Wow, it has been a full year!! Gone in a blink of an eye, really I didn’t feel it passing by. I was just looking at my mobile phone screen (it shows anniversaries on screen) to find out that it have been a whole year since I’ve been hired in LinkDev. Oh boy I can’t even imagine it.

So you must be asking now for my feedback about this experience?

Well, I will make it easy for you and state my experience in a single phrase

“LinkDev isn’t utopia but it’s striving to be one”

When you talk they listen

When you complain they improve

When you suggest they do

Before I became a member of LinkDev it was my dream to become one, and now I’m. And if there were a time machine to take me back to the past a year ago I would take this decision again with %100 determination and with no hesitation, because I know that I will get to work in a great friendly work environment, learn things that I would never think of, lay my hands on materials and resources that isn’t available in anywhere else and gain experience that I wouldn’t be able to get anywhere else.

Through the last year I’ve learnt technologies that I wasn’t aware of and master it and use it in real big life projects. Through the last year I’ve mastered the use of several Microsoft products that wasn’t possible to lay my hands on it before. Through the last year I’ve gained a great knowledge of how big projects get managed and I gained this knowledge by watching people whom gave me a live definition of what a project manager looks like. Through the last year I’ve gained knowledge of how a proper constructed firm works from the inside and how to work according to a process that yield best results. Through the last year I got trainings by several gurus whom I wouldn’t get even the chance to even meet them.

I stand now and look back from where I am and say WOW (yes I said that twice till now, so what?) when  I look back I see a big distance and a big timeline of self improvements and achievements. My knowledge and experience before I work in LinkDev compared to what I have today is nothing. While writing this article now I feel how much I’ve been lucky to work in such big software house that is one of the biggest contributors to the software industry in Egypt.

After all of this now I come to wonder how some people manage to come up with what consider pure lies that provoke me and irritate me and push me to write the following flaming lines. They just keep repeating what they have been told (I’m not going to link to them or even mention there names because by doing so I would give them what they exactly want by claiming such things, “fame”), they repeat things like “link has a bad working environment” or “ link’s technical level is so bad”, I just say “Huh? What? Are you kidding me?” and wonder how such people come up with such pathetic claims without even considering explaining how or why?

I’ve been there and I know exactly how the working environment looks like and I do know without even a doubt that it’s the coolest working environment ever. Common man, I call my managers with there first names and we play playstation games together, do you still consider that a “bad environment” (for non Egyptian readers, it’s a privilege to call your manager with his/her first name here in Egypt). At least we are not another hypocritical bureaucratic company that requires its employees to come in full formal dress code.

And for the technical weakness claim, I think you should whomever you are to come and check out our technical team; they are a major kick ass. LinkDev have the highest rate of MVPs in Egypt, LinkDev is doing the most famous big projects in the area, LinkDev have the coolest geeks in Egypt, so don’t just come and say such things without a proof. Most of you are technical guys which means you are smart enough to understand the most basic rule of any scientific field, don’t claim anything without a proof. When you write code you don’t assume it’s working without testing it, this same basic rule apply to your claims that goes untested, they are just assumption based on what you hear. So don’t go around repeating such a bad talk about LinkDev without having a reasonable proof on your claims and assumptions. I wish that your proof would be something better than “somebody told me LinkDev is BAAAD”

LinkDev RULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLE ;) 

 You know from time to time my mind just storms with overwhelming ideas about our future, the world future. Very interesting thoughts come and go in my brains about what is going and what is going to be. So I thought I would brain storm it on my blog to share with you. I don’t know why I want to share these thoughts and random brain storms but I do know that I want to. Maybe I need feedback from people to assure me about what I think or correct me if I’m wrong, maybe I just want to relive my brain by dumping these thoughts into a text format that is readable by others the same way when a software crash happens and it dumps it data onto the hard drive. In a few years ago I didn’t imagine that my profession would be software engineering, witnessing such a technological boom, the same way people from a hundred years ago didn’t imagine we could fly or control things remotely. Software engineering has become my life, requiring me to have a distinctive mind set that a few have it. Everyday day in my profession I do and witness things being done that one day the human kind considered miraculous. Connecting to servers on the other side of the globe in a matter of milliseconds one day was only a favorite topic in science fiction movies and stories, but we do now every time we click a link or send an instant message. 100 years ago people where dyeing for no reason with hundreds without even been heard of and now when a dog gets killed in a car accident the world hear about it. News in the old days was spread from mouth to mouth till it reaches you in days or weeks and now it reaches you in a matter of seconds. Flying in air or landing on moon were just imaginations or dreams and now they are reality so what about today’s dreams? We as a software engineers and developers are riding the technological wave while it rises dramatically to the skies overwhelming everything in its way. The people way of living and thinking has changed because of this escalating wave of technology. Me my self are one of those people whom have been changed by the technology, my life style, my profession, my future and even my musical taste. 10 years ago I was that normal stupid kid whom was living just to be, with no cause or dreams, another brainwashed kid by the media that is controlled by the government, I didn’t know anything but the things have been taught in the stupid elementary school, the technology have made me to what I’m now, the internet have learnt me and made me somebody, given me the forbidden knowledge that was hard to obtain, gave me the knowledge and learnt me that knowledge is power. I was a nobody and now I’m somebody thanks to the technology. I look back I know that If I didn’t had that little computer as a child I wouldn’t be able to write this article in English in the first place, and it wouldn’t be read right now by you, I wouldn’t be heard and I would be just another nobody walking in the street with no cause or meaning of life to live for. If I didn’t have that computer I wouldn’t know what is software engineering is and I wouldn’t get such a profession that is lots of people is envying me for. I think you while reading this you do share me the same feelings. Imagine if there was no internet? Or you couldn’t use it, you would just another brain washed live walking zombies in the street whom are imitating human life pretending to be alive, with no real cause but the media brain implants that you have as a cause. You and me should unite, you and me should declare war on stupidity, you and me should wake the brain washed, we should improve, we should move, eliminating every berocracy and hypocrisy that stands in our way, debunking stupidity from its roots. We should get down from our ivory towers and move the crowds our selves before they move us, we should lead them to light instead of letting them leading us to the darkness of the ignorance or stupidity. You know and I know that knowledge is power, so let us give the power to the people, let us enlighten there brains with knowledge, making the world a better place to live in. The more you give the more you will get back, a better quality of life among a better quality of people. Let us help the week, let us enlighten the ignorant. Making our today dreams feasible to tomorrow, we all dream of a utopia, a dream that can’t be accomplished while there is still people on earth whom still can’t read or write. Don’t be shy of your dreams; people dreamt about flying and now they do, so why don’t we dream about another utopia? We can do it like we did the impossible before but the world won’t move by it self, it needs some people with the power to push it forward, so let’s keep pushing forward, we have the chance, we have the flames of knowledge within our hands, and one day we will eat the fruits of our seeds that we had sawn today.
